Site of the famous old Sandstone quarry (1886-1942), now abandoned and with only a few relicts remaining. There are several engaging storyboards posted here. The Kettle River here is very pretty, it's banks lined with dramatic boulders and humming with the quiet roar of rapids. A short distance away is an old iron trestle railway bridge with beams so spidery looking one wonders how it bears the weight of a full sized train with three engines and 100+ cars (that crossed the road before me as I drove into town).

I've gone to Robinson Park for climbing, and the old quarry site is incredible for it! Lots of bolts for lead climbing and the anchors are good enough for top roping, too. The only drawback is that park rules prohibit climbing... that would have made the place perfect.

Great summer time hiking and swimming adventure... Scenic and a fun time all around...

Apparently the sheer, tall, nearly vertical old quarry rock walls are a great training ground for climbers and on this day they were clearing brush from top to bottom. In preparation for the winter season they were also piping running water over the cliff face, forming frozen waterfalls overnight. Perfect for learning ice climbing!

The trails here are not for inexperienced hikers; you have to navigate over dams of large boulders and mud puddles. It is very beautiful though. The cave systems here are definitely worth checking out.

The beauty and interest level here is a 5 star rating but am pulling one point owing to poor trails maintenance, potholes and mud. Highly commended for the adventuresome

Its a beautiful campground, picnic area with plenty of history. Hiking trails run along the river. Rich with Sandstone historic fact plaques...it still has riggings and foundations from way back, when the quary produced a great deal of stone. Very good time. Very pretty.
